AI Product development deserves thought, experience, and a focus on what makes us human!
LET'S TALK

ʻUlu Method is a product development practice focused on AI and emerging technology, built for the earliest and most critical stages of a company. The work starts with the founder’s vision and carries through product definition, strategy, design, requirements, and delivery. Every engagement is different, but the approach is the same: figure out what you’re building and why it matters, then build it to last.

I do my best work in the early stages, when the idea is bold and the path isn't clear yet. I'm equally comfortable in the boardroom and in standup, writing requirements and mocking up designs. I also build the systems, standards, and teams that turn a scrappy startup into a stable, high-performing product and design organization.
I've been fortunate to build a career at the edge of technology, spanning product management and design across industries I genuinely care about. These are the areas where I've spent the most time and go the deepest. Hover any skill to learn more.
Building a product is a sequence of decisions. Each one shapes what comes next. The process below is how I approach every engagement. It always starts with the founder's vision and values, defining the product, building the strategy, shipping the MVP, and growing the team and reach.
Not every engagement covers every step. Some founders come in with a clear vision but need help defining the product. Others have a product in the market and need a strategy, iteration, or scale. We figure out together where the right starting point is and work forward from there.

Every company is at a different stage, and the right engagement depends on what you need right now. Whether it's strategic guidance, dedicated product leadership, or someone to build the product from the ground up, there's a way to work together that fits.
Senior product leadership on a fractional basis. We work together to define the vision, values, and product strategy. The engagement covers market analysis, competitive positioning, roadmap, and team structure. The level of involvement flexes depending on the need, from advising the founder to working directly with the team.
Best for: Companies that need senior product leadership but aren't ready for a full-time hire. Founders looking for a strategic partner to get the product foundations right.
Hands-on ownership of the product function. Leading the product org, owning the roadmap, building and managing the team, and running the full process from vision through shipped product. This is a long-term, embedded engagement with the focus and continuity of a direct hire.
Best for: Companies that need a dedicated product leader to own the function and build the org. Founders ready to step back from day-to-day product decisions.
I come in as the founding PM and work as an IC. I create the strategy, write the requirements, design, and shipping. The engagement starts lean, focused on getting to a viable product as fast as possible. As the product finds traction, the team gets built around it and the role shifts from IC to product leader.
Best for: Pre-product or early-stage companies that need someone to do the work, not just plan it. Founders with a bold idea and no product team yet.
